Sigil 0.6.0 Released

I'm pleased to announce the immediate availability of Sigil 0.6.0. This release is the calumniation of thousands of hours of work. It comprises approximately 165 major changes and many more minor ones. Please see the changelog for a full listing.
Stability has been greatly enhanced and crashes should be greatly reduced or non-existant. Cursor positioning between view has also been enhanced and should work consistently (correctly) now.
Some notable new features:
  • Goto Link or Style
  • Saved Searches
  • Clip Manager
  • Deleting unused images and styles
  • Edit capability in TOC generation
  • Inserting special characters
  • Change text casing
  • Reformatting CSS files
  • Various style and file usage reports
  • Ease of linking stylesheets and images
  • Inserting links and anchors
  • Opening files/images with external editors
  • Customise the GUI fonts/sizes/colors
  • ...and so much more...

All of this couldn't have been accomplished without the help of Grant Drake and Dave Heiland. Without their contributions 0.6.0 would have only had a fraction of these changes.

  1. Thanks everyone involved for making this happen.

¿Will there be a 32 bits Windows release?

    1. There was an issue found with the x86 Windows build so it was pulled last night. A new (hopefully) corrected build is up now.

  4. I've been a French user of Sigil since version 0,4, on my Macintosh. But I can't use the latest 0,6 release on my Mac (system 10.6.8 - I don't want to upgrade to 10.7 that would jeopardize many of my apps). It crashes at launch - unexpectedly, without any messages or warning. Version 0,5,3 works well.
The latest version seems to work well on my PC. So no big trouble here.
However, if the latest version of Sigil on Mac requires a minimum system version, it would be nice to know it in advance.
Many thanks for your work, I use Sigil to edit and optimise the epubs I'm publishing. I really appreciate what you have done.
    Best,

It's listed directly under the download link on the Mac download page. It's the first line of the description.

    2. I am running 10.7.5 and Sigil 0.6 won't even start; I get a segmentation violation right out of the gate. This is pretty dire, and deserves mention in the blog post, not just a tiny note on the code.google.com page. I implore you to do a build that supports 10.7, at least.

Also, "calumniation"? Did you mean, perhaps, "culmination"?

Mac (I am a Mac user) makes up a small percentage of downloads. It does not need any more notice than having the minimum OS X version stated directly under the download link.

This cannot happen while my laptop is broken. I'll look into it in a week or two when my new Mac arrives.

    4. I get a seg fault too on 10.6.8. It's that quick that the crash log can't even report which thread it came from.

    5. A new build (0.6.0a) is up that works on 10.7.

    6. It even works on 10.6.8, it seems ! At least it opens on my Mac, it can open epub documents, etc. I didn't go through all the functions but I'm confident that if it works for 10.7, it should also work for 10.6.8. Which is a relief!
Many thanks for your quick answer and more generally for Sigil. For us authors who try to sell ebooks versions of our books no longer in print, it's invaluable!
If you're ever interested in Science-Fiction, I'd be glad to send you my two english collections that were tested and improved via Sigil. Just let me know.
      Cheers,

  6. Thanks for this tool that definitively has become my favorite one to create epub files.
One thing is missing for me : be able to insert tables.

Is there any chance to include it in next release ?

  9. In the presentation text you wrote calumniation when you want to say culmination. Probably a joke by your spelling checker...

    Thanks for the new version!
